THE HISTORY OF SGAA

In the late 1970's, South Granville Athletic Association (SGAA) began as a membership-based organization to provide sports activities for our youth in Butner, North Carolina. In late 2015, SGAA became affiliated with SWAC, allowing our teams to compete with other recreational teams across North Carolina at the season's end to showcase the talent we develop year after year.  SWAC currently offers tournaments for soccer, baseball, softball, basketball and football.

Today SGAA is governed by a Board of Directors, along with a host of coaches and volunteers and is the premier provider of athletics to the region's youth. We cater to children and families across Granville, Person, Durham, Vance and Wake counties.

We are excited to announce our newest league of Flag Football in 2024. Also in 2024, SGAA sanctioned with Tar Heel Leagues, Inc. to give our baseball and softball players 8u and older opportunities to play other All-Star teams across our district and the state. Spring 2024 brought our first ever All-Star 6u tournament 'in house' to prepare our future baseball/softball players of what they can look forward to!
